Are you carrying a burden?
When you think of this life, what is it you live for? If you’re like me your energized when you think about your family, and the love they give you. I’m constantly renewed as I look at pictures of Shanda, Myles, Micah, and Jillian. Because of this energy and life I find in my family I have a burden to love my family well, and see my kids become all that God has called them to be!
I have also been given a new life for and a burden for the local church. I think the church who represents Jesus as HIS ambassadors for the kingdom of God is the Hope of the world. I have a burden to see that church transform itself into the people God has called them to be. This burden is the sole reason I have found myself in seminary!
Whatever you’re burdened with, you can bet it’s what God has called you to!
Reader Beware!!! The burden is heavy if you carry it alone! I have found myself carrying these burdens alone at times, and the weight of the burden has been crushing me! If you feel crushed by the things you’re burdened with, you may be like me, and attempting to carry them by yourself!
Jesus said in Matt 11:27-30, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and MY BURDEN is light.”
The challenge and call of Jesus is not easy at all. It goes against everything inside of you and me that we call human nature… but when we follow Jesus he calls us a new man/woman. Part of the newness of a life In Christ is our partnership with Jesus, the burdens and challenges of God that are difficult don’t have to be… the load CAN be lightened and this is the burden Jesus speaks of. It’s a burden that is carried by Jesus and not us carrying it alone! If you find yourself crushed by the burden and the things of this life, I challenge you to let Jesus carry it with you and see if the load is a little lighter today : )
