I guarantee you that others have had this thought and it would make some sense. Give the guy with the most faith, heart, and determination on the field the best arm in football.
But then again God doesn’t think like us… the bible actually says his thoughts and his ways are higher than ours! (Isaiah 55:8-9)
At One Community we have been going through a Christmas series looking at the Christmas story through the eyes of people who actually lived it. Last week was Mary and this week we talked about the shepherds. What did we learn…
Mary and the shepherds were nobody special. They were actually below special… very young, very poor, and very common in the first century. The one thing that these people had going for them compared to all the others God could have chosen… they were willing! Not only were they willing to listen and follow God… but they were willing to tell people about what they had experienced and they gave God all the credit!
Seems to me Tim Tebow is a lot like Mary and the shepherds… he is willing to follow Jesus and more than willing to give Jesus all the props for his life including his recent successes on the football field!
It’s not the fact that Tebow thanks Jesus in interviews, prays on the field now affectionately known as “Tebowing”, or that he points to the sky on national television that really has my attention… its the fact that somehow people know Tebow is for real when he does it that excites me most!
May we all be willing Hear Him… Follow Him… and point to Jesus in all that we do in this life!
